Three centuries of Belgian stock exchange data

SCOB (Studiecentrum voor Onderneming en Beurs)

SCOB is a RESEARCH CENTRE founded at the University of Antwerp (BELGIUM) in 1999 when we obtained the official price lists of the Brussels Stock Exchange (Euronext Brussels by now). SCOB obtained also the price lists and archives of the Antwerp Stock Exchange (1844-2002), as well as the archives of the Liege Stock Exchange and the Ghent Stock Exchange (1902-1992).

SCOB has finished digitalizing the historical data of Euronext Brussels (Brussels Stock Exchange) for data series going back to 1832. These data are continuously updated. Data include monthly prices, full dividend information (amount, ex-coupon day), number of stocks, all kind of capital operations (stock splits, reverse splits ...). Besides stock exchange information we are adding accounting data and additional business information on all stock quoted companies (take-overs,mergers and demergers, ...).

The main goal of SCOB is to study the financial data and history of the Belgian Stock Exchanges and the companies listed on it. Several publications are by now realised (View some example graphs composed by querying the SCOB database).

SCOB is an interdisciplinary initiative of several departments of the University of Antwerp (Economics, History and Computer Sciences).

In 1999 SCOB joined efforts with CBG, the Antwerp based Centre on the History of Companies (History Department)
